Discharge Instructions
After your child’s operation and on the day of discharge, you will receive discharge instructions from the nurses at the direction of your child’s surgeon. Be sure to have a complete understanding of these instructions BEFORE leaving the hospital.
When at home, call your child’s doctor directly and immediately if the child has difficulties in breathing, excessive/persistent nausea or vomiting, high temperature or chills, unusual swelling or pain, or the complications that the doctor or nurses might have discussed with you.
If you are unable to reach your child’s Doctor, call the Emergency Rooms or an ambulance service in case of a life-threatening emergency. Any nearest healthcare unit is also appropriate.
Your discharge instructions will include the date for your child’s follow-up visit with the doctor.
